Lory Caldwell's Marriage License
I located my paternal great-grandparent's marriage license on Ancestry as posted by user emtigirl. My great-grandparents were Lory Early Caldwell (my brother's namesake) and Mary Hannah Daphne Fitzwater.
From this Marriage License, which cost my great-grandparent's $2.00 in 1932, I learned the date they were married. Prior to this I just knew the year, 1932. Now, I have it on my tree as May 7, 1932.
I've also learned the place of their marriage was Broadway, Virginia in Rockingham County.
I also discovered, thanks to this license, that my great-grandpa was born in Greenmount, Virginia. I've never heard of this town before. I looked it up and it's possibly not even a town at all, rather an area in Linville, Virginia. There is a Greenmount Road that I found in the area.
I could also add, based on this license, that my 2x great-grandfather, Lorenzo Hinton Caldwell, was born in Criders, Virginia.
I'd like to be able to locate the church listed called United Brethren, I did a search of the area and found a few churches with similar names, but I'm unable to tell at this time if any are the correct church, or if it is still in existence.
